Nelson Clark
Nelson Clark writes and directs animation for audiences who want something to think about after the credits roll.
With thirty years as a produced playwright across the United States and Europe, Clark brings a theatrical sensibility to the screen: character-driven narratives that explore grief, consciousness, and what survives loss. His transition to animation began with Chapel of Bones, a contemplative short that asks whether the dead can be comforted by the living. Recent works include Return of the Soul Sailor, a psychedelic journey following a woman forced to confront uncomfortable truths about who she's become, and The Greyson Scale, the ultimate revelation of a woman's near death experience.
Clark has adapted two of his novels—previously under option to Palomar Pictures and Amentis Films—into production-ready animated series: The God Killer (4 episodes) and The Woman Pope (7-episode epic, 3.5-4 hours). Both projects include complete scripts and animation style guides.
He now develops literary animation independently from Portugal, creating serious, contemplative work that challenges viewers to sit with difficult questions about mortality, transformation, and meaning.
